I have own several cars over the years and all of them were Pontiacs except for one. I remember the first car that I had ever purchased was a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am back in 1989. I was so excited to be driving my first car! Even though it was an older car and had some problems, I immediately fell in love with it. Since then I own a 1989 Pontiac Lemans, two Pontiac Sunbirds a 1990 & 1994. And most recently before GM discontinued the Pontiac brand I own three Pontiac Solstices. My favorite by far was Black Beauty – a GXP Solstice with an LNF Turbo upgrade with enhanced spark plugs and dual scrolled twin turbo.
With all of the enhancements Black Beauty rocks over 300 horsepower compared to the standard GXP engine of 260 horsepower. The Black Beauty’s Ecotec engine with Spark Ignited Direct Injection is a first in U.S. at the time was the highest specific output engine ever built by GM!
I was heartbroken when Pontiac went out of business! A true American classic. Now when I think of Pontiacs that old Lou Rawls song
“You'll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do …….. Whoa, I'm not braggin' on myself, baby
But I'm the one who loves you
And there's no one else! No one else!”
